A native of Robstown, Texas, Herman Rodriguez graduated from Robstown High School and then earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Texas A&M University in College Station in Economics. He continued his education and earned a Master’s in Business Administration from Houston Baptist University in 2012 where he received the Greater Houston Business Ethics Roundtable $5k Scholarship. Currently, he is enrolled at Texas A&M University Kingsville as a Doctoral candidate in Higher Education Administration.
Herman Rodriguez has a dedicated career with 25 years in credit and finance, 15 of those years with Wells Fargo Bank. Herman Rodriguez’s banking career included Credit Trainer, Branch Manager and 10 years with the Business Banking Group at Wells Fargo Bank where he ended as Senior Business Banker and Vice President. As a Commercial Banker in Houston, Herman Rodriguez managed a portfolio of all types of industries to include, Non-Profit, Municipal, Wholesale Distribution, Service, Manufacturing and Retail. His tenure at Wells Fargo also allowed him training at the 2006 College of Commercial Credit in Minneapolis, MN, Media Training in 2011, and exposure to corporate Hispanic marketing projects, along with lending, deposits and treasury management. In 2010, he attended and completed the UCLA Anderson Graduate School of Management Latino Leadership Program.
As part of his community and business development efforts, Herman Rodriguez volunteered and networked heavily in the Houston Metro community. He served on the Board of Directors for Credit Coalition of Houston from 2008-2013, National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals of Houston Executive Board from 2009 – 2014, in 2013 as President of the Board, and on the (HAR)Houston Association of Real Estate International Advisory Board in 2013. In 2011, he was an honored guest of Price Waterhouse Coopers’s Diversity Leadership Forum at Washington, D.C. His efforts in financial education, business and community development earned him the the 2011 Executive of the Year Award from La Camera De Empresarios Latinos of Houston (Latin Chamber of Entrepreneurs) and the 2011 Wells Fargo Community Service Award.
In October 2013, Mayor Rodrigo Ramon and the Robstown Improvement Development Corporation Board(RIDC) hired Herman Rodriguez as Executive Director of the RIDC EB-5 Regional Center. As the Executive Director, Rodriguez helped aid with the financing for the Outlet Mall EB-5 Project and helped see it to fruition. He was later promoted to RIDC Executive Director by the RIDC Board. In July 2015, Rodriguez was appointed as City Secretary and Chief Administrator for the City of Robstown. Currently, he continues his community and business development efforts by serving on the Robstown Housing Authority Commission since 2014, and serving on the Advisory Board of the Corpus Christi Economic Development Regional Center.
He also earned Houston’s Chamber of Latin Entrepreneurs Executive of the Year in 2011. His volunteerism earned him Wells Fargo’s Houston Metro Community Development Award in 2011. Both awards combine his passion for business development and financial literacy advocacy.
